Thanks to my last entry complaining about comment spam I’ve learned of Akismet. I don’t know how it is so effective but it really is an amazing solution to comment spam.

Since installing it I’ve reopened comments on all my entries, tons of spam has been caught and not one valid entry has been misidentified as spam.

If you’re running a weblog I recommend installing Akismet, its really made my life a lot easier.

Stop spamming my fucking blog. Your comments stay up an average of 1 hour so to make it easier on both me and you lets just stop this dumb game.

I just found out about IndieKarma from Kottke. It’s an interesting idea.

Visitors with an IndieKarma, when visiting my site will donate $0.01. It adds up over time and I become rich.

We’ll see how annoying it gets.

Update: Well that was fast. The script breaks my website in IE. Baleeted!

I’ve added Google Ads to my front page. These will only show up if you are not logged in. At the moment they show up before the first entry but I should soon have that modified to be right after the first entry.

These ads can be disabled by logging in.

Update: I tried posting the ad after the first entry of on the index page and it actually looked pretty bad. My entries are not as verbose as they were in the past and the ad just looks out of place sitting in the middle a group of short entries. For the time being the ad will be displayed before all my entries. I may consider modifying this at a future date.
