I was reading a review of the new zombie movie, Dawn of the Dead. Right next to it was another article about Mel Gibson’s, The Passion of Christ.

This got me thinking about what really happened to Jesus. I mean, here was a guy who suffered a terrible death and then rose from the dead. Shortly thereafter, everybody else was “becoming” Christian.

And how do you become Christian? Well, you first have to drown, then eat flesh.

Hmmm…

Think about it, right now, there are hordes of these Christians going around trying to turn everybody else into one of them.

Makes you wonder…

I don’t know about the Christian angle, and I don’t know about this version of “Dawn of the Dead”.  But the original 1979 version of “Dawn of the Dead” had a very strong criticism of American consumer culture running it. The first movie “Night of the Living Dead” had a similar strong commentary on 1960s race/Vietnam issues in it.  I’m not a horror film fan at all, but those two movies really transcend the genre and are good for reasons beyond the gore.
